What People Are Saying
“It was a truly wonderful event, and so nice to have [Judge Jerry Harmison] at the Chamber. His ability to inspire people and his strong servant leadership are admirable, refreshing - and a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season. Our community is so very lucky to have him!”

“The discussion was so lively and thoughtful, and it was a lot of fun for me to see the audience really engaging with the issues. I had not given that particular presentation [A Constitution that Still Works: The 4th Amendment and Cell Phones] before, and I thought it worked really well. Thank you again!”

“I love having you in the classroom with us. Your civics lessons are fantastic supplements to social studies standards I am already covering in class .... The students always look forward to your visits and hearing from someone other than me sharing your expertise .... Having you join our class helps drive home to students and families that the community is an extension of our classroom, and what we learn in class has ‘real world’ relevance.”

“Today, the county prosecuting attorney, a representative from the state public defender’s office in Chillicothe and I participated in the mock jury trial of the Bid Bad Wolf (the alleged victims were the three little pigs) to the second-grade classes in Brookfield and Marceline. The juries acquitted the defendant in one trial, and the other two resulted in hung juries. I think the kids enjoyed it almost as much as the adults!”

“The structure of the Missouri courts was clear. I appreciated realizing Missouri is unique. The fact that two Supreme Court judges took time to talk with us blows my mind. Super grateful for this part of the session [visiting the Supreme Court of Missouri].”

“Judge Vandeloecht is always a hit as a guest speaker in my government class. Her enthusiasm and relevancy to the students’ lives always keeps them engaged and grabs their attention. And even I consistently learn new information and new court cases every time she visits my classroom. The judicial branch can be a complex part of government, but her visit always helps connect the content to a real-world application.” (read more at LINK)

“I went into Southview Kearney Elementary school today and spoke with the fourth-grade class about the three branches of government and how laws are made. It was the first time in two years I have done so, and I was the school’s first outside speaker since COVID. The kids were great, and I had a blast!”

“We want to thank [Supreme Court of Missouri Judge Mary R. Russell] for [her] presentation to Friendship Village Sunset Hills. It was well done and informative .... The room was overflowing, with people in the hall outside. [We were] particularly impressed with the great number of people who made a point of coming to us later and thanking us for arranging the presentation.”

“It is with great sincerity that I ... thank[] you for the fabulous presentation of Mean King George given by Judge Kenneth G. Clayton of the 25th circuit. He was both professional and entertaining ... and provided more than a presentation of Missouri content material, he shared his experiences of how hard work and dedication leads to the achievement of a successful community and life. ... He was able to relate to students on their level, sharing experiences that hold their interest and excite them about the learning process.”
